It's Monday and I haven't heard anything from Batch, yet again. I am so flipping over his vanishing acts. I am sitting in a cafe waiting for one of my oldest friends Craig to turn up. I text him, asking him to meet me, so he can give me some advice. I met Craig in college, we were studying the same hairdressing course.

He and his boyfriend Anthony opened a salon together around the time we added Rootz to the barbershop. We are far enough apart so we don’t interfere in each others business. I spot him walk in and he stands out in the crowd, Craig is very comfortable about his sexuality, as he should be.

He walks in wearing a light green board, with a plain , his brown loafers. He scans my body taking in my attire and smiles at me. He always says, that if he was a woman he would dress like me.

I am think blue and white pinstripe skirt, with big white buttons down the centre, and a cream crochet strappy top. I added my brown strappy sandals and my straw hat with a black band around it.

“There is she, my Caroline.” I shake my head and laugh at him. He is completely obsessed with The Vampire Diaries and he says I am a dead ringer for Candice Accola who plays Caroline Forbes in the TV show The Vampire Diaries. I have been told by more than him, that I look like her.

“Oh Craig, when are you ever going to stop calling me that?”

“Never.” He dramatically gasps and pulls me into a hug. We hug for a few seconds because I have missed him so much. We meet up once a month if possible but during the summer months, we both get pretty booked up with prom and weddings.

“So what has been happening in the world of Craig Knowles?”

“Oh girl, things have been busy, like so busy. We had to take on another girl to help out, so now all of our seats are full. What about you, Miss Forbes.” he winks at me and I roll my eyes.

“Oh you know, pushy mums and bitching brides. Nah, I’m joking, it’s been amazing. Like you guys, we have been super busy. We added other girls to help with the cleaning prepping. Dad is loving the cash flowing in, you know how much he likes the salon to be in the black,” I smile at him. He nods, in understanding.

“So how is the other half? Still gorgeous as ever I bet.” At the use of the word ‘gorgeous, my stomach tightens, and Craig frowns at me. Bugger he caught that, Craig is very inquisitive.

“Oh, you know what he’s like. He is always gorgeous, honey.” My eyes twitch at the word again. Bollocks. perfect eyebrows rise up, he leans forward resting his elbows on the table, cupping his face in his hands.

“Spill, Genevieve.” I sigh, leaning back in my chair.

“I met someone.”

“Clearly.” He teased. I smile then, as quick as it appeared it fell from my face.
